It’s been over two and a half years since I was thrown into the deep end of autism parenting and just over six months since I started AutismUAE, and while it’s impossible to say that you’ve heard it all, one can assume that they’ve heard a fair amount. But nothing I had ever heard before affected me like what I heard last night, first hand, from a behavioral consultant visiting from abroad.
She went to visit a family to assess their child. She entered and made small talk, and asked where the young boy was. They pointed her towards a room.
There she found, in an empty room, a little boy restrained and with his hands bound.
And that was how he lived.
Every day.
I’m not done crying about it yet.
subhanallah </3
🙁
oh Allah!!! Ya Raheem! May Allah guide people and free that boy from this hardship. How does stuff like this happen?
May Allah grant them the wisdom…
As for the kid, I only have tears in my eyes…
yallah! this sad! may Allah swt help the child and his parents, Ameen! truly heart wrenching to think how many other kids must be surviving in such conditions!
I was thinking…do you think that was done because the boy might seriously harm himself? Can autistic kids inflict injuries on their own bodies?
This post was indeed very sad and I pray for the relief and cure of all such little children. 🙁
This child was actually attending a special school during the day and doing alright. It’s just that when he came home again he was tied up and put away for the rest of the day.
Some children (and adults as well) do have self-injurious behaviors, but even in those cases there are various ways of minimizing damage and restraint, when used in extreme cases, is limited to the duration of the behavior, not all the time. This was a case of a child being treated like an animal, unfortunately. And Allah knows best. May He have mercy on all of his creations.
I hope and pray nobody does that to my child when i’m gone. Feel so sorry for the boy.
Even if u have to put your child in a room ,make sure its a place full of fun for him.Create and remember : do unto others what you want others to do to you.
